About Haven Windows:
As a native of Michigan, I am always homesick for the Great Lakes. Several years ago I began painting "windows" to what I've loved- beaches with children, and memories of summer cottages.
Framed behind old window sashes, the paintings create the illusion of looking out over familiar old porches to the sand and waves. Apparently many of us share similar memories when the family headed to the beach and parents could spend more time with their kids.
I am gratified that people see their own fond memories in my paintings. As a result of this series, I now find myself painting views by commission. Clients describe people and places they hold dear, and provide photos if they have them. I create windows that reflect their own special memories.
